Poem

The Cross of Christ, our Hope!

The Cross is something that takes us out of our comfort zone. The very thought of having of carry the Cross made our Savior pray thrice, “Father, if you’re willing, let this cup pass from me!”. But God gave Jesus the strength to focus on what lay beyond the Cross. This strengthened Jesus to endure. This poem reiterates this message.

Embrace the Cross my dear child
Let the world party hard and wild !
You, my child, abstain from evil !
If you waver, it’ll conquer your will !

They that faithfully carry the cross
In this world shall surely suffer loss !
But in the world to come, they’ll reign !
To tread the narrow path, thyself train !

O how hard it is to tell the world ‘nay’ !
We’re so mindful of what they’d say !
Strive hard my child to please God !
Give up not nor lose courage – try hard !

The Cross will lead where you don’t want to go –
There’ll be times with no hope for tomorrow:
Our Savior, on the Cross, faced such a time !
But He rose again ! That’s why I write this rhyme !

Never give up my dear Christian friend !
Don’t fret as though you’ve reached a dead end !
When trials and temptations toss you around,
God’s comfort and love shall manifold abound !

The Cross that crucifieth thee shall also raise thee !
The stone that sealed thy grave shall roll to set you free !
If with Christ we suffer, together we shall reign !
The Cross kills to save: ’tis a mystery to every brain !
